McGuireWoods Consulting’s site selection team has secured more than $1.3 million in incentives for TMEIC Corporation Americas’ two new assembly facilities in Waller County, Texas. TMEIC is a long-term client of McGuireWoods partner Doug Lamb. The project highlights another successful collaboration between Lamb and the McGuireWoods Consulting’s site selection team. TMEIC Corporation is a joint venture between Toshiba and Mitsubishi Electric headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, specializing in industrial electric and automation systems for industrial plants. The company develops and produces power electronics apparatus, electric motors, drives and uninterruptible power supplies for facilities such as data centers and battery storage locations. The first project will result in a reshoring of photovoltaic power inverter assembly from India. The new photovoltaic power inverter assembly operation will employ more than 200 and the company will invest approximately $8 million in Waller County. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott recently announced TMEIC’s second project, a new uninterruptable power supplies and medium voltage drives assembly facility to primarily serve the data center industry. McGuireWoods Consulting helped secure a Texas Enterprise Fund Grant of $368,838 for this project. The new uninterruptable power supply assembly facility, which is also in Waller County, will create 62 new jobs and equals a $65 million investment. “Collaboration with the state of Texas and Waller County has been instrumental in facilitating our decision to invest in this region by fostering a pro-business environment and a robust manufacturing ecosystem,” said TMEIC Corporation Americas president and CEO Manmeet S. Bhatia in a statement. McGuireWoods Consulting’s Steven Pearce and Chris Lloyd executed the projects and hope the ventures will have a positive impact on the community and distinction of Waller County. “The household names of Toshiba and Mitsubishi Electric announcing a facility there demonstrates that Waller County is able to partner with any company,” Pearce said. “I think it’s going to have an outsized impact on Waller County for many years to come.” The projects mark a period of growth for the McGuireWoods Consulting’s site selection team as it is one of the first data center supply chain ventures for the firm, building on the teams work with data center operators nationwide.
